Nature Bridges, the Award Winning Top Down Construction Bridge Builder, announced the completion of pedestrian and free span bridge systems in the City of Center Point, Alabama.

Tallahassee, FL, September, 2010 – Nature Bridges ( www.NatureBridges.com ), specialists in timber bridges, announced today it has completed a boardwalk and free span bridge system in the City of Center Point, Alabama.

Award winning Nature Bridges completes a system of stream and pond crossings that consist of a 570 foot long and 6 foot wide pedestrian boardwalk with handrails that connects a series of walking trails across a pond. Nature Bridges also constructed four other separate timber bridges totaling 170 lineal feet. These timber bridges traverse the main stream that runs through the center of the park. One of the bridge structures is a free span bridge system that has a 10,000 pound rating, allowing heavy maintenance equipment to gain access to various locations throughout the park.

Accessibility to all features the park has to offer was a problem for Center Point residents. Because a stream ran through the middle of the park, it was difficult for residents to easily access all important features of the park. However, through the tireless efforts of the 5 Mile Creek Greenway Partnership led by lead Architect, Francesca Gross and Mayor Tom Henderson of Center Point, Alabama, Nature Bridges was able to help turn Center Point’s vision into a reality for the community. Residents are now able to enjoy not only the playground, but they now have much easier access to the veteran’s memorial, the senior center and a series of interconnected walking trails.

When constructing the boardwalk portion of the project, Nature Bridges used their top down construction method. Top down construction is an environmentally friendly way of building wood bridges and timber bridges in ecologically sensitive areas, thereby preserving the environment. Through the use of lightweight hydraulic impact and material handling equipment in combination with hand driven auger machines, Nature Bridges’ top down construction method means the only things that touch the ground are workmen. The only things left behind are footprints and your new structure.
